The Venetian Resort (The Grand Canal Shoppes), Las Vegas, Nevada

The famous Sands Hotel was closed in 1997 to make way for the development of the Venetian resort, consisting of a 1.6 million square foot convention and exposition center, a 6,000 unit all suites hotel, 850,000 square feet of upscale shopping and 250,000 square feet of casino area. Prior to ground breaking, Blatteis & Schnur was engaged to advise on the design, lay out, merchandising mix and economic analysis of the project. Subsequently, Blatteis & Schnur became the exclusive leasing agent and retail consultant for The Grand Canal Shops, a collection of fine merchants, restaurants and entertainment.

Phase I, containing approximately 450,000 square feet of upscale retail, dining and entertainment, opened in August 1999. In 2004, Blatteis & Schnur assisted in the sale of the Grand Canal Shoppes to General Growth Properties for an unprecedented sum. The Grand Canal Shoppes remain one of the most successful shopping destinations in Las Vegas and are consistently fully occupied.

The Headquarters at Seaport District, San Diego, California

Blatteis & Schnur acted as exclusive leasing representative to Terramar Retail Centers in their redevelopment of the historic San Diego Police Headquarters. Originally built in 1939 and located in the heart of Downtown San Diego, the historic complex was restored and reincarnated to become an upscale shopping and dining destination. The Headquarters opened in November of 2013 with a best-in class collection of restaurants and retailers including The Cheesecake Factory, Eddie V’s, Kitson, Pizzeria Mozza, and Seasons 52.
